Nose.........!!!! Naak...muk..mugu..... Such an important organ!!! I have always given due respects to all the vital organs which God has fitted us with, the beloved nose being one among them. Human..!! What a creation by Thee!!!!
Considering the "Respect Giving" aspect, will it not be more respectful if we start greeting each organ instead of greeting the person ?? It will sound something like this- " Hello, Good morning knees!! How are you? How are you eyes? Seeing colours ? Wet or dry ? Pouring buckets ? Or just drizzling ? Pouring out of joy or grief? How are you tongue? Sugary or salty? How are you stomach? Empty or filled? How are you heart? Beating or chanting someone's name? How are you nose? Runway clear or blocked? Smelling and breathing well? ... It will go on & on & on..........A "never ending saga"...!!!!
Khade khade good morning bolne mein hi 2-3 good nights ho jayengi...!!!!
Thus keeping in mind the human convenience, time constraints and other social obligations, we say a simple "Hello" along with the noun assigned to the person in question by his/her parents/family members/neighbours and most importantly...the family pandits..........finishing the 'Greeting' ritual in few seconds to few minutes.
Conserve energy....!!! Conserve time.....!!!! Conserve resources....!!!
Coming back to one of our important sense organs- The Mighty Nose.....!!!! Manufactured in various sizes, shapes, colours, textures.......!!!!
Primary function- detecting smell and acting as a passage for the inflow and outflow of air.
Secondary, self defined and self - invented functions are many......!!!! Eg. Used for poking in other's businesses when one does not have his own business; used as an organ to display pride and honour!!
Naak unchi rakhne ke liye ya naak ko katne se bachaane ke liye log kya kuch nahi karte!!
People spend lakhs and crores on weddings and other similar social obligations just to keep the nose high!!!! What show off...!!!
Nose is also used as a platform to display the ornamental wealth, the accessory varying from a normal traditional gold stud to the typical Maharashtrian Comma shaped nose ring and the magnanimous round Rajasthani nose ring. Weel, this accessory can also be used to show off the Gen Y Attitude by wearing trendy nose rings!! Attitude thy name is Sania Mirza...!!!!
Nose is also marker of beauty index. Adds extra stars to the geography of one's face. No wonder why some people spend so much under a Cosmetic Surgeon's knife to get theirs tailor-perfect!!! Many Sirens in our very own Bollywood have got a nose job done!! Wanna know who all..??? Shhhh......I have been given royalty to keep their names secret..!! So,....Main na bolungi....main na bolungi....!! Ab jaan ke kya karenge aap log..!!! Woh bhaley,....unki naak bhali......!!! Bhagwaan sabla bhalaa kare...!!!
Let us poke our noses into another important function- i.e. SMELL......
The deodrants, perfumes, room freshners, car freshners, toilet freshners, home freshners, outside freshners, "what not freshners"and their associated industries should worship nose...!! Nose is the whole and sole reson for their survival...!!! Warna kya gucci, kya Armaani, Kya Hugo Boss aur Kya Axe!!! Sab paani hi hota...!! Jai ho Nose Ji Ki...!!! Providing roti, kapda aur makaan to so many people....!!!
Nose also needs care & protection....from dust, allergens and changing weathers. Once the bacteria and virus families start playing their seasonal holi inside the nose, the person is done for the next 3-4 days...!! Haalat kharaab ho jaati hai..!!! Uncle and aunty biotics have to be called to rescue the nose..!!! Who will know the suffering better than me...?? Holi inside the nose, drizzling eyes, throat that sounds like a frog and the entire self of me feeling drowsy!!! Awesome!!!!.... Thanks to the timely efforts of the auntybiotics and her rescue team.....my nose is looking forward to a blockage free and fragrant tomorrow....!!.:-)
But these tiny-mini microbes deserve acknowledgement...!!! It was their holi inside my bose which inspired the conception of this blog.....!!!!! Jai ho Nose Ji Ki....:-)

I regularly thank my heart for pumping blood and keeping me alive all day. NOt to forget others too.
ReplyDeleteAnd I feel you've not accounted the other important application of our "mighty nose". I'm not sure, I always believe that the nose is pointed and the most forward part of the body (when the whole body is normal :) ). I feel it is designed to give the streamlining effect for the animal. To poke the air easily, effortlessly and move forward, to over-come the drag created.
